The raptors that roam this area are just astonishing to watch as they glide high across the sky, effortlessly looking for their next meal. The forests, lakes and mountains are teeming with a wide variety of birds and is it any wonder? The absence of humans allows the birds to hunt and feed with very little disturbance.
There are many pathways and tracks across unfenced, open land, which provide the feeling of being totally in the wilderness, which to some extent you are. There is still plenty of cover to allow for sighting birds. In some areas hides are starting to appear as the wealth of the natural bird life is beginning to be carefully monitored, understood and encouraged. It deserves a visit for the scenery alone, but the birdlife will not disappoint.
