I always loved the Lake District in England but I always found it too busy. When I was a teenager it was less populated with tourists and there seemed to be an oldie worldie sort of charm about it. Perhaps it still holds some of that. Either way when I moved to Spain I thought there would be a part of me that would really miss the Lake Distric. Fortunately and totally by accident I have found that I live in a lake district here in Andalucia. The difference here is that there are less tourists, more wilderness and a lot more sunshine. There is still the enticing smell of pine drifting from the forests here, as there always was in the UK Lake District, but here between October and May you can still hold outside BBQ’s in purpose-built, rustic forest barbecues that are provided by the Forestry Department.
