Cueva Aked is, as the name suggests a cave house, located in the campo (countryside) about 2 Kms from the edge of the historic town of Baza in an area called Siete Fuentes (seven fountains). Baza is located about 100 Kms East of Granada in Andalucia in southern Spain. The view many people have of Spain is that of the Costas, but inland Spain is completely different. The way of life is tranquil. Here expect to see locals riding donkeys and goat herders tending their flocks in the towns as well as in the countryside. Here family life is as important as it has ever been and it is not unusual to see large familes of twenty or thirty gathering at weekends. These events strengthen important family ties as they eat local cuisine, sample local wines and have a whole lot of fun.
Cueva Aked sits amongst Olive and Almond groves on the foothills of the Sierra Baza mountain range. The area is important within Andalucia, not just for its historic significance, but also for its supply of water. Underground streams erupt from the mountains and provide clean spring water for the locals to collect. Every weekend families arrive here at Siete Fuentes to collect their weeks drinking supply. The view all around is of Natural Parks that hold an abundance of wildlife. Close by there are breathtaking lakes, forests of oak and pine and hot spring baths that many say invigorate the body and keep you young.
